Thermae’s mission is to create a dignified, welcoming thermal sanctuary where people can experience deep restoration through the timeless traditions of communal bathing and contrast therapy, free from the pressures, expectations, and distractions of everyday life.

Inspired by Roman thermae and designed for modern Nashville, Thermae celebrates hospitality, wellness, connection, and the freedom to simply be comfortable in one’s own skin.

How is Thermae different from a traditional spa?

Thermae is a proposed private wellness bathhouse inspired by the public bath culture of ancient Rome.

Unlike a traditional spa built around individual appointments, Thermae is designed around the timeless, self-guided ritual of communal thermal bathing:

Why Roman?

My inspiration for Thermae began during a visit to King Spa in Dallas. Experiencing communal, clothing-optional bathing firsthand revealed something I had never encountered: a space intentionally designed for slowing down, reconnecting, and restoring body and mind.

I left wondering why Middle Tennessee didn’t have a place for that same sense of renewal.

Rather than recreating a Korean jjimjilbang, I wanted to build something uniquely Nashville, rooted in our city’s history and culture. Known as "The Athens of the South," Nashville has a deep connection to classical architecture, embodied by the Parthenon in Centennial Park.

That civic appreciation for classical beauty became the vision behind Thermae: a modern bathhouse influenced by the symmetry, natural materials, and timeless craftsmanship of ancient Roman thermae.

At its heart, Thermae exists for one purpose: to create a beautiful sanctuary where you can step away from daily stress, disconnect from technology, and experience deep, restorative rest.
